〔AS-BioTReC〕Cordially Invites You to Attend a Lecture by Academician Chi-Huey Wong, Ph.D., at the National Biotechnology Research Park

The Biomedical Translation Research Center (BioTReC) of Academia Sinica is pleased to invite you to a lecture by Academician Chi-Huey Wong, Ph.D., on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the National Biotechnology Research Park. Dr. Wong is currently the Scripps Family Chair Professor in the Department of Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute, a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Genomics Research Center of Academia Sinica, President of the Development Center for Biotechnology, and an advisor on biotechnology strategies for Taiwan’s Executive Yuan. Dr. Wong is a pioneering chemist in the field of glycobiology, with numerous prestigious academic honors and awards. He has published over 750 papers and holds 120 patents. His research, with a high scientific impact (H-index of 160), has profoundly influenced the development of glycobiology. His recent work focuses on developing new methods and tools to synthesize and explore complex carbohydrates and glycoproteins related to human diseases. These efforts contribute significantly to basic science and lead the way to more effective new drugs and vaccines. In this lecture, Dr. Wong will share stories from his distinguished academic career and research journey, as well as the latest advancements in glycoengineering of antibodies and vaccines. He will also discuss how these advancements offer more effective treatments for viral diseases like influenza and COVID-19. We warmly welcome researchers, industry professionals, and those interested to join us.
